well my buddy just got a '99 2.slow jetta in t-red, and he wants to debadge the "jetta" letters. I was wondering if anyone has done that to a car that old, and if the paint under the letters didn't match or something due to fading? And say we do it anyway and it doesn't match, is there some way to get it to blend in better, like polish or something? Thanks!

red is notorious for fading quickly, but from what i've seen of t-red vw's the paint has held up pretty well. i helped debadge my friend's car (01 black jetta) and everything went ok. plus, if it's faded, you can always just stick the letters back on

wheres that picture from cuz thats a really nice color..
is it stock or after market?

thanks, its stock blue lagoon http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif the color is actually a little off in that pic, kinda muted.
I think we are just gonna try it. I figure if you can still see where the letters were, it will be that much easier to put them back on.

I have a 99 jetta........I debaged cant tell the difference with the paint. My car is uni black but was well kept. It was waxed regularly so the paint still shines. You shouldnt have a problem matching, if you do it wouldnt be anythgin a couple waxes shoudl be able to fix

I debadged my 01 black Wolfsburg, and you could see a little bit of ghosting where the 1.8T letters were, but I just had the whole car compounded, buffed, and polished so it looks really smooth!
