Your probably thinking that no one should let [a/k] play with matches, but once again
autokrieg is ready to prove that we can make hot cars
and hot food……..it is time for:
Dub & Grub 3……the LI/NYC BBQ on June 8th, in Forest Park, Queens…..
As many of you know we had the first two BBQ’s last summer and had a great response. Basically
Dub & Grub is a free BBQ with an informal Show & Shine, open to all VW’s and Audis. We will be asking people to bring food and drinks to be cooked and shared by everyone. We had over 100 cars at both events last year and I am proud to say there was no fee to attend or show. The Show & Shine is judged purely by the spectators, with trophies given out in all classes.....
We have the support of many local tuners and a few magazines, as well as the support of the NY Parks & Recreation Department. Forest Park was build by Robert Moses and is a really nice place to spend an early June day....
I have included the details below that you need to know, and will be adding to this post as more info is needed.
Please respond if you are coming and include and e-mail addy so that I can contact you for items you are willing to bring and how many you are coming with. Last summer there were quite a few caravans that formed to come, so please feel free to start one with people from your area....
As always, you can feel free to contact me with any special questions you may have…..hope to see you all there…..it is always nice to finally see all of our friends in the daylight…..

Winners from D&G 2.....
the hosts.....
Details:
-When: June 8th, 2002
-Where: Forest Park Bandshell, Queens NY
-Why: Why not?
-Who: Open to anyone with a VW or Audi
-Cost: [a/k] is buying this round.....
-Time: 10a-5p
Rules:
There is no alcohol allowed in the park.....their rules, not ours. Our official policy is to have no drinking....if you choose to break the rules, the ticket and possible ejection from Forest Park by the NYPD on car and horse patrol is at your own risk.
Please do not drive like a moron. This is a BBQ and informal show and shine, not a burnout contest, drag strip, auto-X or time to test your e-brake.
Look for signs outside the park that will bring you into the area where we will be.
This park is one of the few, and I mean few, places that was cool with at least 100 VW's rolling in, and without a fee. That being said, I am sure that the NYPD would love to find a chance to throw us out. We only need a few people to act like idiots to make that happen...please do not be one of them. A lot of people, including myself, have spent a lot of time and money to make this a great day, all I ask is that you respect that....
Directions:
from points east...
I would recommend taking the Northern State to the GCP to the interboro (Jackie Robinson).. exit 4 which is for Forest Park... get off, go left at the stop sign, then make next avilable left into the park entrance. Basically follow signs to bandshell... pull into parking lot on left after the bandshell... (beware of speed bumps)
from points west...
well anyone coming from brooklyn should know the Interboro, just get off at 4 go right then left.. follow signs to bandshell NOW for the rest of you, it would probaly be easier to get off exit 19 (Woodhaven Blvd) on the LIE/495.. make a right and follow Woodhaven for about 1.5 miles... after bridge look out for Myrtle Ave, just after Myrtle make the right after the next traffic light on to Forest Drive.. follow this about 1000 feet and make right into parking lot before bandshell...
from points North....
From the Tappan Zee take the Cross Westchester (I think Rte 287...) east to the New England Thruway South (I-95) to the Throgs Neck Bridge. At the end of the Throgs Neck, look for the Clearview Expressway South. Do not confuse this with the Cross Island which also exits at the end of the bridge. Take the Clearview south , you will pass over the LIE / 495, and continue to the Grand Central/Interboroguh Parkway interchange. You are looking to get on the Interborough Parkway west, not the Grand Central. Take it to Exit 4. At the end of the ramp, turn left, and take your first left in to Forest Park. Follow the signs to the Band Shell, and turn left into the parking lot after the band shell.
