ok, then check the ground for the ICM. if it is loose it will cause this problem. IIRC, the ground for the ICM is held in with a phillips screw on the drivers side strut tower. Also check the connections on the ignition coil itself. Make sure they are secure.

my brother and i went through the entire wiring yesterday, fusebox, grounds, wiring for the lights, one of the turn signals had a bad bulb we changed that out. Added 2 new grounds from the battery. Now it's time to change the starter $130+ for it..

It better fix the problem if not i will be pissed...

Re: (Redvdubdrivah)

A new starter wont fix the running problem.
Something I thought of last night was maybe disconnecting the red/black wire and jumpering the fuel pump relay and see how it runs. This will eliminate any interference from a corroded fuse box with regards to ignition event signal. Your tach will not work after that, but at least you can see if it runs better.
let us know what you find after you get the starter in there so it will run so you can continue to diagnose the original problem.

i will ask my brother about trying that out ^
Thanks again everyone for the help

Re: (Redvdubdrivah)

Sorry man. I just reread what I posted. I am referring to the red/black wire on the coil. not the starter. Hope that helps clear up some potential confusion. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (Redvdubdrivah)

Ahh, videos are great!
Ok so just to make sure I am getting this right, the tach needle is bouncing around at idle because the engine is revving up and down of its own accord. correct?
Also, in the first video, you started to start the engine and then started the engine. was this the intention or did you attempt to start it the first time?
methinks we have been barking up the wrong tree here.

Re: (Sticky Tape)

1st video is just turning the key over and having the fuel pump prime( i think that's what it's called) I did that to show the tach needle bouncing.
2nd video was to show how the idle goes up and down it had trouble staying on, and this next video shows what it did once it started to idle fine.
(Video 3 is not showing how the car was dieseling before dying, for some odd reason she doesnt want to do that same problem again..)

Re: (Redvdubdrivah)

Just a guess in the idle bouncing, ISV?
As for the tach bounce upon starting, could it be possible that it's dirty ignition switch contacts?

Is the car equipped with a factory oil cooler? Is there antifreeze in the oil?

i checked the oil dipstick and there was no antifreeze on it. the anti freeze is oily though...i'm gonna change the oil and see if it's noticeable there
I'm not to worried though Friday i'm picking up a Vr6 passat and giving the entire swap over to a buddy for his built g60, wiring and everything. Just as long as the car lasts long enough, i dont care for this 8v
