A question for you guys with kits on your cars

1823 Views 35 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  nisei
I want a Zwo kit for my GTI, and live in NJ, so you all know how the roads are here. I also have KW coilovers, so I can adjust the height a little. I like to drive fast and kind of aggressive, do you guys think that having that kit on my car will give me problems, like when taking turns or pulling out or into driveway. Any of you with kits please give me your opinions. Thanks

I have a 2001 Jetta with an Oettinger Kit, with Bilstein PSS9 Coilover's. I have the front dropped all the way they will go, so the car sit's pretty low. As for driving agressively I haven't had any problem's, of course be on the lookout for pot-holes, and as for driveway's and stuff, use real good judgement, and well most important, take the driveway's at an angle!!
Hope this help's.......

I have the same car you have. I have a full body kit with h&r race springs 2in drop. There is plenty of clearence with this setup. Taking turns is fine. The only time i have a problem is if i hit large dips. Sometimes ill hit my plastic engine protector on the bottom of the car, but that is hard to do.
Where abouts in Nj do you live.

Thanks Bundaho. I think I am going to ahead and get the Zwo kit. We can be twins. I live in Fort Lee. Where's Carneys Point?? I see you have a dieselgeek short shifter, do you like it?? Thanks again, man.
Re: A question for you guys with kits on your cars (CubanGTI)

the most important thing u have to look out for is going in and out of driveways.
sometimes i have to park on the streets cause i don't think i can get into the
parking alot. its a pain but its worth it.

Carneys Point is in South Jersey right next to DE. The DG shifter is awsome, but you can get the audi tt one which is about the same thing for like $30. If i was going to do it again thats what i would get.

Worst enemys
speed bumps
driveways
crap and stuff on the road
steep angled on and off ramps [ie underground parking]
the more your front bumper sticks out the more you will scrap
be prepared to buy a new bumper if you are not too careful

I would also like to know what this kit looks like. Everyone keeps talking about it. Does anyone have pics?? I am planning to drop my car about an inch and a half, how do you guys think that would be with the Zwo kit?? Do you think I'd have any problems?? I am picking up my 2002 GTI 1.8t next week. I can't wait
Maybe I'll see you guys around NJ sometime.

Re: A question for you guys with kits on your cars (prsbirds)

so there are no issues of cracking or bending or breaking, the streets here in new brunswick are bad. Im not in the market to buy a kit, but eventually want to, so im jus trying to get a view.
Fastgirl: A nice kit with a nice drop is the weitec gt kit. I have it on my care rite now and its the perfect drop. Handling is also a million times better.

The wheels are porsche boxter wheels. The fronts are 17x7.5 with 225/45's and the rear is 17x9's with 255/40's. I am using h&r trac + adaptors to go from 5x100 - 5x130. The adaptors are 20mm wide.
