our dealership got its first and only, so far, r32 in yesterday.
well guess what...it came back in today off a tow truck, made it all the way to 57 miles.
reason? coolant leak
actually there was a pin hole leak in one of the radiator hoses...how?? if you look by the drivers side rad fan you can see how close the blades are to the hose that runs from the top of the car to the bottom, the fan wore away at the hose.
i advise all of you to keep an eye on it....im will to bet this wont be the first time an r32 is going to come in for this
and guess what? no stock on that radiator hose, AND its on national back order.

I think thats my car.......

Picked it up yesterday & was about 10 blocks from home when coolant light came on, had to get it flatbeaded today.

& the worst part is that the hose is on backorder

Hopefully it'll come before the weekend......
blue nrg.......please keep on eye on my car

I think this needs to be added to the pickup check list, if anyone is keeping track of that, because, if it is common enough, it might stay on backorder for a while.....

Can you guys post up the MSRP and Part Number on that hose, when you find out.
I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate it.
I'm interested too, because i have a Blue R32-Cloth coming in mid-March; fingers crossed that this is a rare fluke...

VW don't seem to have fixed all the probs. The coolant hoses were already slit by the fan in 2002

service advisor is been really helpful, she keeps me updated on the situation as much as she can. Saying they trying all means to try and get the hose asap, even went so far as calling the regional reps to get them involved. I have nothing but good words about her.

Maybe I'm missing soething here, but is this engine so much different that substitution couldn't be made with another Mk4 type radiator hose????

something strangely familiar about all this...
those evil backordered passat coil packs,
think of it as VAG hazing.

Re: (vr6y)

Can this be replaced with a Samco hose? That may be a better idea ...
maybe a slightly different molded on that gives some clearance.

Oops... I heard of some guy frying it's engine for the same reason. That's why I'm keeping an eye on this one.

Other threads have addresses this issue, there is a VIN range that use European hoses instead of the ones that are meant for the US build. search for this and you'll find the VIN range
