I know the front one fits and looks well with a little modification. How about the rear? I don't think I've ever seen this done so if someone has a picture, post away.
I think that you are correct, but the key is that the 2" needs to come out of the middle. They make a plastic welding kit that is supposed to help make the seam seamless, but I've never seen it done.

There are also people who do Plastic Welding for a living if you aren't feeling adventurous.
Just take them the bumpers and explain what you need to have done.
I know nothing needs to be cut out of the front one. One of my friends had one on his Rabbit. I din't really care for how it met up with the fender flares though.
Give me euro bumpers any day.
I have done this on my car and the front fits well but you have to trim some material from the sides. Also you must modify the brackets so they will bolt up.
The rear needs 2" removed from the middle, it's not hard to do but it is hard to make look good. You must plastic weld the seem shut to make it look perfect. Also the rear bumper brakets need to be modified.
