Hey what's up....so i got these things about 5 min. ago and im already getting the pre-slammed jitters. No really why did they throw in a zip tie for the front two struts??? I don't really understand why I would need this, and am currently using it to hold my wires together behind my TV. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif THanks Bilstein!!

IIRC, the zip tie is to hold the upper spring cap to the spring. There should be a hole in the upper spring cap for the zip tie.

hows this for a delayed response...
the zip ties bilstein provided are supposed to hold the upper spring to the perch so when you lift the car the spring doesnt get misaligned. There wasnt a hole on my upper perch for them so I left them off. I dont really understand why they would be needed, as the helper spring ensures the main spring is under slight preload to prevent any misalignment problems.
Incidentally, have had my PSS-9s for about 35k miles, and I LOVE THEM. Still. As good as day 1, under hard city driving. Think I'll go get sway bars now...

FYI: my Koni's on my GTi came with zip ties too...no biggie.
I removed helpers on rear of my PSS's but chose to leave the front ones on, just a suggestion but I got the best even drop doing this... and off what A2T said, I am not really worried about the rears being devoid of them.

are PSS' or PSS9s available for G60s ?

I am 99% sure they fit G60's too.

no offense but im glad kw's dont come with zip ties. is there that much travel that the spings are at some point loose before the shock rebounds?

A VR6 Mk III strut/shock or coilover setup will fit any of the older cars. You just need to change the strut bearings.

I'd think twice about that for the street. It handles better with just the coilovers and stock bars.

Thanks for the reply! Finally I can now go install my coilovers 7 months later.
How did this thread even come up again? Oh yeah and I love my PSS9's, they're the best. Any of you guys ever set them all on 9 and just ride around? I've had these for a while and i haven't even thought of doing that yet....too damn lazy to get under the car.

9 being the softest setting...don't go railing any tight turns. You'll quickly learn what snap oversteer is. I've found that anything over 6 is pretty sketchy in the twisties.

That's interrresting because I was thinking of taking out the front sway bar and intalling a Shine racing swaybar in back. Right now tho the car handles great, the adjustability is just great. Make the car handle/ feel any way you want. Currently running on 4 on the fronts and 2 on the backs. It seems that stiffer in the back reduces understeer. Also raising the ass of the car a little higher then the front seems to work best for me, but I do prefer the level look. I only lowered the car 2 inches in front and 1.5 inches in rear. I've tried lower, but I don't think it handles better- suspension travel is actually a good thing.
Yeah they fit G60 no prob, just get the VR6 front strut bearing- there better anyways.
Hey, has anyone tried trimming the bumpstops on the rear. when I level out the car by lowering the back I notice that I bottom more, so I got adventurous and cut down the bumpstops. took about a 1/4 inch off of it. I think that it helps. ANyone else try that?

Seems like that would induce more understeer if the fronts were set lower than the backs. Unless your talking about KW's or something differnt. I was worried about he understeer at first so I set the backs a little softer than the front and noticed a little OVERsteer. Now i just set them the same stiffness all around and have the ass up a little bit. Seems to have the best handling and i never have problems with understeer.
...although the "level" look would be ideal, its as far down as it goes in the back.

I have found the same. If the rear is set softer than the front, hello oversteer...and once it's in motion it's very hard to correct because it pretty much snaps. I'd much rather have the understeer issue...
