While replacing the oil pan on a 2.0L 8V and I accidently cross-threded the 2 hard to reach bolts that are partailly covered by the bell-housing.
I can't get those 2 bolts to torque to spec.

Any Suggestions?

Re: ABA Oil Pan Prob (Eject)

I just tighten them until it doesn't leak. Torque specs on oilpan bolts just seems silly
.
I mean, I know the engineers are smarter than me, but if it doesn't leak, then its good enough right?

maybe try wrapping a little teflon tape on the bolts and see if you can get them to thread in snug. iirc those threads are in the removable plate that holds the rear main seal, so keep an eye out for a new plate and replace it next time you have the tranny off.
