ABD big bore... HELP PLEASE!!

Ok so i got a ABD big bore intake pipe back in the day. Had a hard time getting it on. Put it in a box and have not seen it in months. Just found it the other day. Want to put it on but need help. Its on a 96 2.0. I have a Neuspeed intake also (adds to the problem). Anyone else have any problem with this? Maybe different sized hoses are needed? PLEASE HELP!

oh yes. on my 98 2.o i had to cut the big bore down for it not to BANG and CHATTER against the strut tower. I say sell it to someone or trash it and get one made for cheaper.

I got the BB from ABD. I put it on my 94 Mk3 just the other day. I must say, it was somewhat tight. At first, I thought it wasn't going to fit at all, but then, I realized that the multi-colored plastic sleeves could be moved quite far in either direction. This allowed me to position it properly, and THEN slide the sleeves back down to cover the gaps at the MAF and the TB ends. The middle connections were easier.
Good Luck. I like mine. I can't really say that I notice any performance increase, but I'm only using the butt-dyno, dig? It sure looks purty under there! BTW, I have the ABD Q-Flow intake bracket with K&N too, so my install may have fit better than your neuspeed thing.

Yeas, I actually have never heard of one fitting right. I know if you cut down the small hose that runs out the right side towards the drivers side fender, it allows the assembly to mount farther away from the strut tower and not bang into it...

From what i have read on Vortex, the ABD big bore has been known to REDUCE horsepower, because it is bigger, the air does not rush through as fast, and it creates more turbulence...this is my understanding anyway, at least for VR6s

I've also NEVER heard of anyone having one fit properly. My friend Andy will probably chime in on this one

I've never seen such a poor fit on a mass-produced aftermarket product. Every time I have had to remove it, I have to wrestle with it for at least a half hour to get it back on. And you must always bring a regular head screwdriver with you, in case THE WHOLE THING POPS OFF THE TB!!! This happened to me during A 1/4 MILE RUN, and left the car to spit and sputter for about the last 1/8. If I had the stock piece, I would put it back on in a second.

honestly i dont know why anyone wastes there money on this thing, its a joke
1. it dosent fit right...almost never
2. i think it looks ugly
3. dosent do what its says it does(gain hp)
4. its a rip off
5. it costs way to much money
those are why i would tell anyone never to buy one

Bigger isn't always better for Normally Aspirated. Probably works wonders for a turbo car though.
