This could possibly be a repost but I thought it would be good to get this info out there. I work around alot of solvents so I know the dangers of handling pure solvents like acetone, MEK, and engineered fluids.
Anyone who tries this should definitely do it at their own risk and measure the acetone carefully. Below is the FAQ sheet that I found on one of my favorite time-killing websites, fark.com

Considering I drive my daily about 80-110 miles a day and the fact that I pay more than $3 a gallon right now, I'm considering giving this a shot. I'm curious to see if anyone else on here has tried it before.

Bio-Diesel is the only way to get more gas millage. Methyl Ethel Keytone or MEK is very volatile stuff.... I'd be very careful just having that stuff around in the garage.
Look what happened to my neighbor who had a bunch of MEK in his garage:

I was only using MEK as an example of what I work with. If I did this, it would only be (1) 16 oz bottle at a time. No need for more when you only use 3-4 oz. per tank of gas.

Only found two sites where people did actual controlled testing on this:

The conclusion in both cases was a tiny decrease in gas mileage.
This site mentions the anti-knock effect acetone can have, which might make it possible to run 87 octane and save money that way? As a straight fuel they claim 17:1 as an effective compression ratio.
