oh, also forgot to let y'all know the car is leased....so chipping is out the window as far as i'm concerned as i don't want to mess w/ my warranty!
keep em coming please!
how much would a good performance exhaust set me back? how much of a difference does it really make (honesty counts here!!)? would this effect the car's warranty? can a non-car guy install one?

so you don't want to do a chip but hacking off the stock exhaust and an aftermarket one on a car you're turning back in is easier? you won't void your warranty. try to find one post on this whole forum where someone had a catastrophic problem from a chip and it voided their warranty. you won't find any. your just changing your fuel mapping a bit with the chip, and ridding it of a govenor. it's no big deal as far as that goes, but it will make a real big difference in the way the car feels, an exhaust won't. and at the end of your warranty, unplug it and plug in the stock one and sell the aftermarket one in 'classified'. add an easily removable cold air intake and your golden.

If you Upsolute your car there is no way they can tell its been chipped with instrumentation. There's only one way they can tell in which case you should be complaining about the way they drove your car. They can easily tell on a 1.8T, hook up there think-a-ma-jig and as soon as boost goes past stock they got yah. This all according to the local Upsolute rep (who just uploaded my stock 02' programming to be sent to Upsolute, Aulstralia)

why not just leave it as is? if it's leased you don't own it. there is pretty much nothing you can do that won't alter your warrenty that will provide you with an extra 15. besides all that i don't know of an inexpensive way to get hp. hp costs $$$.
