hello all,
im not well versed with car hookups and needed some advice: i hv a 99 passat non monsoon with an after market panasonic 8 cd changer. I recently found a good deal on a monsoon amp. is it possible for me to hook it up to my non monsoon deck? would i need to change my speakers? and most importantly is it worth it? has anyone done this?.
look forward to hearing from audiophiles out there.
thnx rgds

Re: Adding a Monsoon Amp (kingpassat)

It's probably easier and better to get an aftermarket amp.
No need to change out your stock speakers unless, they are blown.
You can add a line out converter to get a low-level input(RCA's) for your amp.
I'm sure that it is possible to add the monsoon amp to your current system. But, you'd have to figure out the wiring for the amp.

Re: Adding a Monsoon Amp (kingpassat)

it would be more of a pain in the ass than anything to add a monsoon. I recomend a regular 4 ch amp.
the reason is that the amp is actually a 8 channel amp,2 rear channels of teh amp are 8 ohms, for the back woofers, and the rest is 4 ohms.

Re: Adding a Monsoon Amp (maxt)

Are you sure the amp has anything to do with the ohm rating? I always thought it was the speaker that decided how many ohms where in the circuit and the amp had nothing to do with it other than being stable at those ohms or not.
