If a steering gear has play in it, where you can wiggle the wheel to the left and right, is there a method to adjust the play out of this or do I need to buy a new steering gear?
It's definitely not the outer tie rod end because when you wiggle the wheel, the tie rod moves in and out from the steering gear. There is no looseness on that outer ball joint.
How do I tell whether it's the steering gear or the inner tie rod end? It's definitely more from one side than the other. Perhaps I should take the boot off and see what it looks like?
I'm not finding inner tie rod end replacements, just the whole tie rod assembly. It doesn't look like it's going to be fun to remove the tie rod assembly.
