I'm getting ready to take my car in for the 10K service. Is there anything you guys think I should make sure they check out? I haven't any issues with the car at all other than the damn rattles in the lockpins on the rear doors. Is that even worth having them checkout?
I'm just wondering if there is anything that they don't normally look at during the 10k service that I should definetly get them to look at.
Any advice would be appreciated.....

BTW - almost 10k and I've only had it for 3 1/2 months........damn.....

Have them replace your wiper blades for free. Last chance under the 12/12 portion of your warranty.

VW wiper blades a crap. Mine are new and they are absolute junk. I think I'm going to put a nice set of AAMCO (I think that was the brand) on my car soon. I got them for my old Topaz and they ROCKED.

They'll replace my wiper blades??? I didn't know that was under the 12/12 portion.
What all is covered under the 12/12 warranty? Is it online anywhere?

The 12/12 covers wear & tear items. Clutch, brake pads, wipers, bulbs, etc. It's in your manual.

I was thinking about that........is Mobil 1 the best to use?

Mobil 1 5w-30 or 0w-40.

Hey even i m going for my 10 K service tomorrow....
And i m gonna ask for new wiper blades....thanks for the tip off.
For my 5K service i asked them to put in synth and they put in Castrol Syntec 5W30. Is there any difference between Castrol's Synthetic vs Mobil's? If i wanna buy my own oil, how many quarts should i buy for a 1.8T engine?
Also i have 7,900 miles on the odometer...do need to rotate my tires this soon? THe dealership says, yes.

Mobil 1 has a better reputation - I got it on the advice of others here, who would be better suited to respond to the synthetic questions. Try the 1.8T forum for that.
If you read the manual, it should tell you 4.3 quarts.
If your dealer is offering to rotate the tires, by all means let them. Obviously, though, make sure the rotate the full size spare as well.

Just searching for synth on Vortex. I am finding that: Amsoil is regarded better than Mobil 1. So if i can get that in 5W30 in the local autozone/walmart then ill gladly pay the $1.50 extra/per quart. If not ill takein Mobil 1. Do i need to buy the amsoil/mobil 1 filter too?
Spare tire rotation? Ideally yes, but i m still wrestling with the fact that the car would look pretty ugly with one steel rim and three OEM alloys. Do dealers remount the tires on the alloy rims if requested?
