Re: AEM CAI for the MK4 GTi VR6 (peterock17)

As far as the intake goes its a really good product, AEM always makes a great intake. Plus they give you sweet stickers and a 5hp liscense plate frame. (sarcasm) As far as the place your ordering from be carefull, many websites like that are shady but you never know. Email them to see if its in stock before you order, if it isnt either wait or go somewhere else.

quote:

What do you guys think of it. Eurotuner claims 8hp and 8ft-lb gains at the wheels all across the powerband. Its on sale for $191 regularly $280 @ http://www.wholesalehyperformance.com. Should i get it? Does anyone have it in their rides? I would like to hear more about it.

Some people are saying that those Eurotuner results are questionable, though a majority here who have one say it's given a slight noticeable boost in performance. I bought the intake on a GB here for $195 shipped and have yet to install it. For the price you're getting, I would go for it. I highly doubt you would regret it.
Good luck

Re: AEM CAI for the MK4 GTi VR6 (GreenGTI)

installed mine last night, finished at around 1am but it only took about 2 and a half hours......this thing is well worth the money..yes you'll feel the boost.. and the throaty sound when it takes a in a breath..."Fuggget about it"...you'll not be dissapointed..... the process was relatively easy (as i am not an auto expert by any means) and the instructions are detailed enough to void any confusion....

Did you use the stock jack, or did you use another more robust jack? Curious about what to use for my install. Thanks, and Figgedaboudit!

Re: AEM CAI for the MK4 GTi VR6 (GreenGTI)

I've had mine for 2 months now and I love it! I had the P-flow before the AEM and couldn't notice a dam difference. With the AEM it feels like the same gains when I first chipped my car. The sound level didn't increase either on the account that the air filter is now in the fender. I used my P-flow heat shield along with the new AEM intake to keep heat away from the tube. For better gains you need to buy a 1.8T drivers side lower vent to replace the solid one that comes on the VR6.

quote:

Has anyone seen an actual before and after dyno of the AEM other than the one in the magazine. I dont have the magazine, was the dyno there?

I've seen one. Well it was the Magazine Dyno. And that's because I was the one who drove the car to the Dyno for the magazine write up
. It's a VERY good Product. I would definately recomend it. And NO EuroTuner did not Fudge the Dyno

i should have just posted this here.. instead of creating a new topic

Aem intake...chunky exhaust sounds

After the install when i start her up, switch into neutral, and step on the gas; the exhaust gives a chunky "i need to cough but can't get the flem out " sound.. .
i question if the 30 degree weather her in ct is the cause or not.. like the cold sensor is inhibiting the exhaust??.. other than that the ride seems smooth and healthy..and a whole lot more fun .... but i wanna insure that the fun factor isn't hurting my car.
any advice would be a great help.. thanks guys and gals
