I'll check on that right now with Marc! If its the same price as the others I dont see why not. Looks like it is PN 21-492. I'll update/edit it as soon as I know

Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (KJ-VR6)

I talked with one of the Engineers for AEM and they actually said there was very little room to install the water bypass valve. So they haven't even isntalled it on the test cars yet. They also say that on the install instructions.
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (KJ-VR6)

why will this not fit the 1.8t?

Someone posted that they spoke with the owner of AEM through a friend and they (AEM) were not 100% happy with the gains they were gettitng with the 1.8Ts so they havent released it yet.
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (KJ-VR6)

Is anyone 100% positive as to whether or not this will fit the 24V VR6 when it comes out?

Since it is still a few months away from even being released I highly doubt anyone will be able to say yes, or no

Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (KJ-VR6)

DYNOS anyone????
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (KJ-VR6)

How much is the bypass valve or is it included? I'd be interested in getting it as well. What is the deadline to sign up for this, I need to save up some money.
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (ReflexVR6)

Is there any dynos on this yet? Im very interested and might be in.
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (VarLordahl)

Yeah I talked with an AEM tech. They weren't happy with the gains for the 1.8t so It was a no go w/the 1.8t
HP wheel 10hp With consistent gains throughout the powerband on a STOCK 2001 GTi VR6.

You can pick up the valve any where from $30+ on line if you wanted the added security. Search the archives, there is a ton of talk about it being worth it or not! As for price, its only good if we hit 15 people!
So I need more emails guys! Have a few already but not 15!!!!
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (hman)

this is advertised in the aem link:
Advanced Engine Management is now tuning Volkswagens by expanding its Cold-Air induction system line to include the '99-'01 Jetta VR6, '99-'01 GTi and the '97-'01 four-cylinder, naturally-aspirated Jetta. AEM has dyno tested its new system and reports a 13.3 hp increase (5250 rpm) on a 2000 GTi.
is this 13.3 wheel or crank? What is the curve lower? is it spikey? Why doesn't AEM have the troubles viper had with running rich or lean or whatever it was?
13.3 is better than my chip

Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (ReflexVR6)

i'm kind of scared to put something like this on my car for fear of my engine sucking up water. is there any information anyone has to reassure me that this wouldn't happen considering water in an engine is very very bad.
Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (cadiburns)

small amounts of water are actually "good" in the sense that water is a denser form of oxygen. It will cumbust well....this is if it is in mist form. Usually your engine is so hot that it can most likely boil off the water quickly.
the only thing you have to worry about is driving in the water where your entire filter is submerged...

This was in one of the MANY threads about intakes and water. It sums it up very well. Splashes, mist, puddles splashes, are no enough to get through the filter! You need vacuum for that to happen! Has anyone check out the density of a K&N filter? Here yah go....
quote:

On the AEM the intake runs down into the bumper and the filter ends up what would be the area right below your battery! So what would it take for the intake to take on water? The green X is where the filter sits. So in order for water to make its way to the filter your car would have to be in water deep enough to reach that point! Look at the pic below, the green X is your filter and the blue line shows how deep of water you would have to be in to submerge the filter, that's it!!! The filter is a good 12 inches up into the bumper from the bottom of your valance, and a good 6-8 inches deep into the bumper from the front. Not to mention you have the OEM grill on the front protecting it even more!

Soooo if you often find yourself in this type of situation you should be worrying about alot of other things! And driving an early 70s CJ with a 4 foot lift kit, 32s, no doors, and roll cage! Not a GTi or Jetta!

Re: ***AEM CAI GROUP BUY*** (KJ-VR6)

If it is making 10 or even 13 HP I want o see an actual dyno to see where the curve lies according to stock....I want to see wher and how much the increase is....
the problem with 5250 rpm is that is like a split second before I shift....I want to see how much HP is available from 4000 up.
