Yeah, so it's been running fine. My dad goes to pull it in from the street and it doesn't turn over. You can't hear the fuel pump when the door is open, plus the fuel pump fuse was blown. Each time we put a new fuse in, it would get blown too. So, my car gets its first ride on a flatbed tomorrow. Dealership here I come!
(Sorry if my post sounds sarcastic, but I guess I'm disappointed because none of the many Mercedes'--new or used--that my family has owned has ever died. My car, the "high-quality MK4 Volkswagen", dies and leaves me without a car. Oh well, shiz happens).

Re: Ah the joys of car ownership...car doesn't start! (terribleone)

Well, obviously Volkswagen quality isn't yet in Mercedes' territory, I was only comparing them in regards to my situation. The Mercedes' we have owned (from old 67 hp 240Ds to the new E-Class), have never left any member of our family on the side of the ride, awaiting a flatbed. They have had their problems, no doubt, but they've never gotten to the point of being undriveable. And we've had several Benz's with 250,000+ miles.
Our MK3 2.0 (god bless the 2.0, that's a darn solid engine) hasn't had any major problems either. My MK4 has 19,000 miles on the odometer (no engine modifications either). Considering that VW touts the MK4s as being their finest quality cars yet, incidents like this go against that. As do all the window regulator problems many of you guys have been experiencing.
I can deal with a busted regulator, but anything that prevents the car from even starting is disappointing as hell, especially when you really like your car and you pour a lot of money into it.
Thanks for your responses, I am hoping it gets resolved quickly (and completely). I'm crossing my fingers that it is something simple!! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
