My clutch is seriously dying, can't hold the power at 3k+ rpms...
42,000 miles with GIAC chip if anyones is interested.
Going to go clutchmaster stage 1 w/ g60 lightened flywheel.
Anyone comments on this setup? How long can I expect the new clutch to last compared to the stock bosch!!!

Re: Ahhh bye bye clutch (Phobic)

I am now going on my 4th clutch I now have a stage 2 eip kit and it took a crap after about 12,000 miles (not to mention thier custumer service and tech. support don't know thier a$$ from a hole in the ground have to be the worst company I have ever dent with). I though have about 300 lb/ft of torque at the wheels to so compare to that.
My next set-up will be a Kennedy engineered products HEAVY duty pressure plate with either a stock VR6 disk for drivablilty or a unsprung kevlar disk just to hold. I will have it all in by spring. I will post on how it all works.
Another thing is if you get a metallic disk like what my stage 2 kit has they aren't very forgiving on the flywheel they tear them up so think of that too.
When ordering ask the company what the kind of torque it can hold because HP doesn't kill clutchs torque does. So if they give you a HP figure just hang up on they right away because you will get screwed in the end like I did with the eip kit. They say it holds 400 HP but why does my 140hp TDi eat them up just by pushing the go pedal.

Re: Ahhh bye bye clutch (Zuber Speed)

car is running very strong but I need to upgrade the clutch bad. I still have the eip stage 2 kit in the car right now with a stock G60 flywheel. I am going to go with a autotech lightned flywheel also they are only $200 new and are only like 9 lbs.

Just curious....what kind of performance do you get out of your TDI? What is your best 1/4 mile time? I wanted a TDI, but I thought they were not big on acceleration. I am going to trade my 1.8 in if I can get similar performance AND 50+ mpg!

Re: Ahhh bye bye clutch (SlvrBllt)

My best 1/4 mile to date is a 15.7. for around the town driving the tdi is a great car but if you want to have a real fast car for cheap stick with the 1.8t. The reason I got the tdi was because the 1.8t wasn't out yet at the time it came out about 2 months after I got my car and I couldn't let my self get a 2.0. I get about 40 mpg while beating on the car though so it is a little easier on the wallet from that aspect but it isn't a 14 second car at least not yet we will see after the tax return comes back and the quiaffe and NOS go on.
Accleration is suprisingly good just becaus eof the torque but you have to remember that the engine has power till only about 4200- 4500 rpms so the rev band is alot less that a 1.8t.
