If you make mods to your air box, such as the swiss cheese mod. Will you pass the California smog inspection?

Don't think so. You gotta pass the visual part of the inspection. My car ran just as good with a cone filter, if not better, and they wouldn't pass me because of that. I had to go back home, reinstall airbox (non-modded) then they passed me. Anything done to the intake is "bad" because they won't pass you due to the visual. They said exhausts don't really matter because that's generally "sound related" (like mufflers). When's your smog due?

We passed woth a Eurosport Coolflow this year

Some smog stations will pass you, some won't with the cone setup. Swiss cheese style shouldn't be a problem - the airbox is still intact minus a few holes. They look for the obvious. Either setup won't adversely affect emissions.

if you swiss in on the fender side, they won't be able to see. That side should have *slightly* cooler air than the engine side, anyway.

I passed with an Abt cam, AMS chip, ABD intake and big bore. For the visual, I showed him the paper that had the CARB EO number on it. I have the printout to prove it.

Anyone know if Eurosport's intake is CARB legal and how to get the CARB number if it is?? I got mine off a friend and he didn't say anything about CARB legality.

I don't think Euro Sport ever got a CARB exemption for their Cool Flo. Since the same style P-Flo from Neuspeed has one, it shouldn't be a big deal. If you know someone with the Neuspeed, you can borrow their sticker, or just find a shop that isn't so anal on the visual.

Not that easy. They basically see me pulling up in a fixed up car and they already have a "no" waiting for me at the door.
Know anyone that does but doesn't charge "too much" to pass my car?

Econo Lube N' Tune in Chatsworth (818). I've been going there for 10 years with all of my cars for smog. They passed my old '95 Jetta VR last year with cams, 2.9L throttle body, exhaust, Cool-Flo, chip, etc. I told them the intake was CARB exempt, and we were ready to go. The car had hardly any emissions either!
