I've had my Touareg now for just over a year and I've had a couple of issues that have not ever been resolved - until last week.
The main 2 issues that had not been resolved were:
- Brake assist workshop
- Voltmeter dropping while towing, then having "Electronics - Consumers being shut off", then the voltmeter going back to normal.
My tech had followed all of the 'guided fault' diagnosis stuff and they had replaced my battery cable, the front stepper motor, and a couple of other things (don't have my ROs here to look at).
After my tech spent some time on the phone with some VW techs last week, they told him to try replacing the rear stepper motor and control module - this is not listed on the guided fault diagnosis.
In the last week, I've had no more warnings, no voltage problems. Things seem to be working just fine.
Kudos to Darren at Ken Garff VW for fixing me!!

Re: All problems fixed!! <knock on wood> (4x4s)

Yes, I have the locking rear diff. There were actually two Touaregs (mine and a friend's) that were showing the same symptoms and so he replaced the rear stepper motor and control units on both. So far neither of us have had any of the warning screens show up.
This is a new procedure that techs would only get from escalation through the techline. It's not in the normal diagnostics charts.
And yes, there may be a correlation between Touaregs that have the rear locker and some of these phantom problems. The hypothesis the techline said is that the rear diff is sending out garbled info on the CAN-BUS sytem and causing other systems to generate errors.
