Well, what kind of troubles are you getting?
I assume the belt isn't slipping, and the the alternator turns with the motor running.
Is it a GM one wire, or a more complicated setup?
Figure out which is the hot wire, hook a volt-meter to it and see if you're getting any power output from it with the engine running.
Either way, just un-hook it and take it to your local Autozone and have them put it on a bench and see if it's putting out to spec ..
I feel Like a Dumbass.... Went out and bought another alternator... didnt output, at all, just like the first one.... Then I figured out the alternator light on the speedo was burnt out, so I replaced it. Apparently, as I found out after some confused research, that alternator light is needed to polarize the diodes in the alternator...
