Aluminum poishing Question! head and tranny!

449 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  G60ING
Does anyone have any pics of a polished out motor on a VW. I was just curious how it would look and what kind of maintanance would it need!
I think the head would look nice polished! what do you guys think, or is this just crazy!

If you polish thing on the motor you will start to have heating problems. The shiny surfaces reflect heat back in just like a solar blanket.

what you could use is jet hot coating thats what i used on my c. it is expensive but its shiny and helps reduce heat. and it is high maintanance at shows lots of polishing

Jet hot keeps heat in or out depends on how you look at it. Jet hot is good for headers because it causes the heat to flow away from the engine bay. its kind of like header tape but its better and more protectice
Also the more you polish your motor's parts the more you will worry about driving through the weather. Polished parts allow for oxidation to form. and a lot of the areas that are easy to polish when the car is appart are a real PITA to reach once the car is back together. so it looks great for a while but then you are angry because of the incessablity of the area for cleaning maintance
