I've got APR stage I. All I need to do to upgrade my software to stage II is a downpipe. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this eliminates the cat?
Is it possible to go to stage II and remain street legal?

There are downpipes available with and without a cat. If you get one with a cat, there is no reason you should not pass emissions.

^ That's only after 4-5 years if it's a new car. Since you're car is most likely a 2010/2011, you won't have to worry about testing/passing for smog or emissions for a long while.

But doesn't stage II also include intake upgrades as well?

The only requirement for APR stage II is the downpipe.

Legality is not my only issue with the cat, I have carbon guilt too.

If I want to run AWE Stage 2 with GIAC Stage 2, I dont need air intake for it??

The friendly folks at Douglas VW told me, when I had my APR flash done, that all I would need for stage II is a downpipe. Maybe the other ECU mods have different requirements?

no it's just DP.. You caan trust JC & Brian over at Douglas, they do great work.

apr, billy boat, awe, 42dd, etc. most all aftermarket dp's have cats.

The APR dp looks to have a 200 cell cat. Not sure what the stock one is, though..
