Re: And they said that dashboard shifters were new (A4Jetta)

How far back do you want to go? Citroen 2CV? '36 Lincoln Zephyr? '29 Cord L-29? Gearshift levers sprouting from the panel are not exactly new stuff.

That's the PowerGlide transmission, which is an automatic. You'll get no flames from me -- I own a 62 Corvair Monza (4 Speed)..

Corvair Monza- I heard those are pretty fast for what they were. Does it have those big dual Webers on it?

I remember a neighbor having a 60s Camaro with a shifter on the column.
Sorry, I just noticed you said "dashboard." My father's '64 Dodge Dart had pushbutton shifting on the dash.

Yummy, Dodge pushbutton shifters, especially when attached to 413 or 426 Wedges http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
I noticed you said "had" or I'd try and buy it, know anyone else with a Dart/Cuda?

My dad has three, but only one is manual. They're loverly. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif The shifter on the dash is really comfortable, too. It feels sporty. It's what I learned to drive stick on. Whew, it's a good thing he's a patient guy...
