Even though this is 6 years old, I am doing the initial battery replacement in my '08 R32. I posted a new thread yesterday. I have watched a couple of YouTube videos, but this was the most thorough, IMO. I did not know about 1) the cable angles and 2) the positive terminal vent plug.
On my post, a couple of folks said that VW technicians told them to use the "wet cell" battery over the unnecessary AGM.
I also looked, and my dealer told me there were 3 batteries, and to get the correct one, I needed my VIN. Didn't make a lot of sense to me, but then this is German engineering. Also, the dealer price was competitive with the other places I checked. Even Wal Mart only saved me about $11.
