Any chance of ever seeing a VW roadster?

Currently I drive a 2000 Miata and the wife has a '02 Passat Wagon. I love roadsters. I love the styling of current VWs and Audis. I don't love the price tag on the TT. It is out my range - that's why I drive a Miata. Has there been any talk of a lower priced VW roadster that is based on the TT?

Volkswagen has the Cabrio (4 seater), and Audi has the TT (2 seater).
Is there a chance? Well yes, there is always a chance.
But this is Volkswagen we're talking about, so the answer is no.

VW is not in the market for "roadsters."
