Re: Any dynos K&N vs. BMC....is it worth it? (99UNIBLACKGTI)

Somebody a while back did back to back dynos using the stock, K&N, and BMC panels then the BMC CDA. They gained a little at each of those steps (in the order I listed them) but the biggest gain was from the filters to the BMC CDA.
I switched from a K&N panel to a EVO CAI and ran a block 120 dyno. I got 12hp, 10ft-lb after 5K rpm.

Re: Any dynos K&N vs. BMC....is it worth it? (evanb)

BMC has a swoosh sound if u like it, but my dyno tests showed similar results between k&n and BMC(not block 120 but real dyno). Strangely k&n made more power after 5.5k... BMC and stock drops after that. I think it could be due to the surface of the BMC piping. My tests showed stock was better than BMC too. Anyway, k&n is much cheaper. With all my intakes tests, i think the stock box is a pretty good design imho. The only thing that beats k&n in my testing so far is the viper. The viper gains are also after the 5252rpm point. peak is about +8hp but there is like a 12-15hp gain at 6.5krpm. Hope that helps.
