Very old thread but I hope someone will be able to help

I have exactly the same problem as PASHN8

My steering wheel module 16 is exactly the same with VCID, and same CAN gateway. I have white MFD. Like I said I have exactly the same problem as PASHN8 this means that I can see the phone menu in MFD but none of the steering wheel buttons work (Up, Down, OK etc.) and hence I can't confirm the passkey send by my phone on the car.

My setup is 9w7 latest version J module, RNS-510 with latest HW and SW. Below is my full VCDS scan. Car is 09 REG UK Passat

I have made the bluetooth working if I de-select Telephone (77) in CAN Gateway (19). The phone doesn't ask for a PIN and straight away connects with the CAR. Maybe I should setup a PIN in the Telephone (77) module.

De-selecting Telephone (77) disappears the Phone menu from MFD.

Error in CAN Gateway (19) is due to not selecting Steering Wheel (16) and Telephone (77) in CAN Gateway. If I select both of them then the error below goes away

Here's a picture of my MFD+ showing the phonebook selection. It's a bit blurry. Don't be confused by the 0 miles...I took this photo during the installation of a new instrument cluster and the immobilizer had not yet been programmed. And, yes, I can navigate through the phonebook with the buttons on the steering wheel.




I have the following steering wheel from a 2009 CC: 3C8 419 091 AK E74. This version was apparently used on the early production 2009 CC and maybe the early production 2010 Golf models. It looks like this (obviously, the air bag is not on the steering wheel):




Note that the electronic module inside the steering wheel is behind the left spoke buttons, not near the lower spoke. The Clock Spring has a connector that plugs into a socket behind the white part number label at the left spoke.

Your steering wheel is different from ours and is reflected from the steering wheel Part No SW: 3C0 953 549 AC HW: 3C0 953 549 AC as well. Are you saying that we should change the steering wheel and that should solve the problem? But how come all the buttons work in other MFD display areas i.e. SETUP, Radio, Navigation etc. but not in this one phone menu? I am open to any suggestion
