anybody else have a noticable drop in power when using the A/C?
My car seems to lose 10-15 hp when the A/C is on, needless to say I never use it. Is that normal?

mine definitely loses power, but probably more to the tune of 8hp instead of 15??

I have noticed that its quite a noticeable drop in power in Mk2 cars. Newer cars are much better to the point where you may not even notice.

I try my best to use AC only when I'm on the freeway...I turn it off as soon as I exit off the freeway and leave it off when I'm driving around town. When you're cruising on the freeway, AC doesn't have much affect but it's noticeable when you pull from 1st to 3rd geard around town. But the drop in power is not the much to make you a complete slug.

yeah, there is a noticable power drain, of course, you could tell when the a/c was on in my 4.3L blazer as well, could just be the older, less efficient systems.
