Re: ANYBODY IN HERE CONVERT TO THE EURO HATCH WITH BIG PLATE RECESS (EchoOfGecko)
I believe Steve kept the emblem but shaved the wiper
Damn I enjoy looking at yer car Ben
Even moreso soon
If you just wanna see the euro hatch, why not just look at some of the overseas Golfs since they all have em - check the links section on our club site (sig) for a couple overseas gallery sites
Re: ANYBODY IN HERE CONVERT TO THE EURO HATCH WITH BIG PLATE RECESS (psi glx)
Thx for posting the pics Jeff!
Mine has been changed a bit from when those pics were taken - i've since added a dash of chrome to the rear somewhere.
Ben - ever think of painting your trim panel (above the plate) black to match the black Euro trim?
I've said it before and i'll say it again, the rear plate recess on the European cars is soooooo better looking than the clunky, cheap-o plastic one on the NA cars..

Hadn't thought of that before, but that would look pretty damn slick!

I think I still have a pic of my car with a black trim piece mounted - i'll have to see if I can find it...
Re: ANYBODY IN HERE CONVERT TO THE EURO HATCH WITH BIG PLATE RECESS (Vdub18)
Last summer I almost got one. I found out when I was in germany of a full one in mint condition in candy white like my car for the equivalent of $150, I was going to be able to bring it over for a $70 excess cargo fee if I boxed it up in a crate and sent it under the plane with me then came and picked it up at the cargo area of the airport at home. I was on my way to the yard to get it, but they had sold the whole car to someone...it was sad, it was the only dub I saw in that yard so no cool euro parts for me
Re: ANYBODY IN HERE CONVERT TO THE EURO HATCH WITH BIG PLATE RECESS (EchoOfGecko)
I am glad this came up. I have to make the choice to source out a hatch, finding the hatch is not really the problem. The lock conversion and fitment problems that I for see. All looks well on these pics. My easy way out would be to smooth the hatch what do all you PROs think bout that, doing it is not the problem I'm just worried about LOTs of road grime=swirl marks back there. Thanks for any info...

Im feeelin the white one with the zwo body kit /the audi rims r perfect for it http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif the yellow one is hot but it would look better with some euro bumpers

I hadn't really thought about it, but I just don't know about having a strip of black in the center of the hatch, might look kinda out of place. Maybe if I had the smoked lights it would blend better. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Although I guess it relly isn't much different than a strip of black on the bumper.

Look at any A2 with big bumpers, they have the black textured tops on the bumpers and the black thingie on a euro plate recess in back.
Re: ANYBODY IN HERE CONVERT TO THE EURO HATCH WITH BIG PLATE RECESS (golfSPORT95)
Steve was the first? Nope...
The first one in the states was on Les from Eurotech had his shipped over in early 96. Was on his full euro trim Ferrari fly yellow GTI. That same hatch made it onto my Jazz blue drivers edition in 97. Then it was taken off that car when Brad at 1552 bought the car. Sold back to Les, Now i'm not sure who has it. Wow what a trip down memory lane.
