vr would eat it, preludes got NO tourqe... I test drove a prelude b4 I bought my car and was unimpressed,
especially with the interior, thought I was in a subaru

I also heard Toyota's Echo has a better 0-60 then the '01 Civics

Ive raced many Ludes cuz they are all my old buds from HS.
VR Lude
Stock vs Stock = all driver, ive won a few tho
Mild vs Mild = equal (intake and springs @ the time)
Mild vs Midway = still about equal (he has intake, exh, cam gears and pulleys)
Mild (still) vs NA Tuned = im owned

i've beaten a prelude after 80mph no prob....he had exhaust/me=stock......he even downshifted before me and got 2 car lenghts ahead....but when i downshifted i passed him pretty convincingly

Preludes are no civic ex..I honestly dont buy these Vr6 stock killing preludes
2.8l vr6 174hp 180 lbs torque
2.2l vtec 200hp 156lbs of torque
so they are not outnumbered in torque by much
I know preludes that are running low to mid 14s with just Intake/exhaust and headers..and you dont see many GTi or Jetta making those #s with just a chip, intake and exhaust..
Assuming that both drivers are equally skilled..The prelude will win IMO
Preludes are no civic ex..I honestly dont buy these Vr6 stock killing preludes

so they are not outnumbered in torque by much

Funny you should ask that question. My friend I went down to a race track to run 1/4 to see whos car was faster. This has been a long time battle childhood friend. We raced our dirt bikes. Him RM250 Me CR125; he won HIM CBR 900RR ME ZX7-R he won. Him Prelude V-tech w/mods Me VR6 Corrado chip & exhaust I won finally. Then I sold the corrado and we have been trying to get together and race. Well a couple weeks back we did and hear are the results. Well we raced to the track as well. From a roll GTI Pulls away very well full car up to about 100MPH then he passes me. From stop I pull away up to 80MPH then he passes me. With an exhaust I could easily hold him off. VR6 Corrado had Autotech Exhaust. "Best Exhaust for POWER period!!!! After I got the exhaust he could not touch me. Came close a few time but I would alway pull away. Before exhaust him mod me stock it was pretty close. Well here are the results from our race. We are both very experienced drivers. 34years of age.
1996 Prelude V-Tech
1/4 mile 1st run 15.2
1/4 mile 2ndrun 14.6
"Modifications"
"Headers"
"Cam Gears"
"Greedy Stainless Steel Exhaust"
"AEM Cold Air Intake"
"Underdrive Pulleys"

After the race was over we raced home. Bottom line, stock VR6 should beat the prelude v-tech. Both cars with mods, dam good race. Reality check. I have driven his car before. It's small, low to the ground, short throw shifter, short throw clutch. That car was built for racing. Double whishbone suspension. That's my pal and his car is Awesome. But no way in hell I would trade. He has even said he likes my car because it's so refined. He said his next car will be a 1.8T and he will do mods.
On track Prelude V-Tech wins
In real world GTI VR6 wins.
Technically i beat the prelude when I ran 15.0 and he ran 15.2

hah alols preludes!! i spank them on the freeways, sooOOOO bad!!!! i don kno wats wrong with that car, i used to have one. wasnt very fast. but every prelude i saw and raced was on freeway. total spank, i was a car behind and stilll panked him. i never tried quarter mile run yet tho, but for sure on freeway. im not even chiped yet. just intake and exhaust. i get a big rush when i beat them. gsr's don kno .

Left a Prelude Type SH a few cars behind me on the highway just the other day...it seemed like it was bone stock, but so is my 02 GTI...I would have thought that the Prelude was a bit faster, lots of Honda's in Miami, so I get to race one at least once a day...I have a long commute on mostly highway and when the traffic lets up the r1cers get thirsty...I remember driving a Prelude SH when they had first came out with the new model and it felt fast back then...
...Then again, I was driving a 97 GTI 8V at the time...so I guess anything felt fast!
