Anyone have pics of GTI's without the upper hatch spoiler with plugs in the holes?

I was kinda wondering what it would like without the upper hatch spoiler and three little plugs in the holes....
Also, for those who have done this, how much crap is there to clean off, and is it tough to clean? It seemed to be pretty soft stuff that would rub off for the most part...

What did you use to fill the holes, I just used some cylicone to block the hole and then added plastic round tabs on top, like the tabs you put over a screw so it doesnt show.

I just used black sylicone to fill mine up......don't have any pics though....Looks better without that spoiler anyways I think

Those are interior body panel plugs for a chrysler. Found them at Lowe's believe it or not. They fit perfectly in the grommets, a lil clear silicone and no leaking....

If I ever want to put that spoiler back on do I have to slap some tape on it where the guk is right now, or can I just screw it in and be done with it?

You will need to use like some clear silicone around the edges of it to get a good seal. The bolts don't seal it up against the hatch very well, and water will drip down through the bolt holes. It would only take a couple minutes to put it back on if I so desired....

Just wondering...for those of you who have your third brake light on your spoiler...how do you get around not having the brake light anymore once the spoiler is gone?

I also had another idea about possibly putting the rear upper spoiler back on except extend it out a little bit so there is a gap between the glass and the spoiler so it directs air over the back window resulting in not have to use the rear wiper as much (thus less squirting to get crap all over the back of the car)

Is it possible to put a third brake light on (inside the window), like most GTI's have? How would it mount?

Mine doesn't have one

I agree it looks better without. Seems to me you could get one of the old style third brake lights from the 95 and older cars. They had the light inside the car - not on the spoiler. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Well, I just removed the spoiler like 20 minutes ago...
Looks really nice IMHO, I will take some pics tmr and scan them once they are developed (god I need a digital camera)

It cleans up the back when you take it off.....just convert to a 3rd brake light inside the hatch, although you will not get bothered without one....I doubt anyone important will notice it is gone..
