I checked my Bentley, it just says use compressed air, no psi given. If you're worried about it, just make sure that the piston of the cylinder you're working on is at top dead centre, that way if the air pressure is insufficient at least you won't loose the valve into the cylinder. The speciality tools you'll need are: the leak-down tester, a valve spring compressor, and not necessary by highly recommended, the VW valve seal removal pliers
