Anyone have the Autotech SS?

Trying to get some opinions on it before I decide on what SS to buy. If it's not too different than the stock shifter, I won't even bother. Thanks!

Re: Anyone have the Autotech SS? (vertigobora)

Hey Vertigobora, here's my 2 pfennigs (after much research on my own)...
The TT/Autotech shifter reduces the throws by about 15-20%, in my opinion, it's not that noticeable. It's still a pretty long throw compared to some stock shifters.
I am probably going to end up getting the C1VW short shifter, they list at US$125 I think (for the 99.5-2001s), and set it to 40%. Their customer service is also quite commendable.

Hope that helps, and good luck on your search!

Re: Anyone have the Autotech SS? (mrdejected)

Oops, sorry, forgot the link: http://www.c1vw.com .
They've got great prices on their other stuff too.
And US users, remember, the prices are in Canadian $, not US$!

Heh heh, I seem to be good at saving people money for some reason (got my buddy a set of 17s for $400 the other day through Edge Racing's deal). Anyway, no, I don't have it yet, but it's on the To Do short list. I might actually call them up today.
I've looked at (I think) all the short shifters available for the '99.5-2001 cars, and this one seems to offer the most potential (stock/ 20%/ 40% reduction), the least hassle (brand new piece, you keep the core) and the best pricing.
Anyway, that's what I think

I think I might be ordering one soon.
BTW, I saw your car vids on http://www.VWEnthusiast.com
I'm totally digging the sprayers!

I am about to install a neuspeed one. I'll let you know how that feels.

My Autotech feels great. Not the shortest throws but definetely noticable and shifting is smoother and much more solid. Best $40 I've spent.

I agree. An excellent inexpensive mod. Shifts with the Autotech/TT piece are shorter and more positive. A great, simple, OEM mod.

I like my Autotech, very simple and easy mod... noticeably shorter.. perfectly alright with me, and of course the best $40 mod i have.
Re: Anyone have the Autotech SS? (GTI628V)

I fully agree...I got the Audi part from the dealer for $40 (CDN)

Makes the shifter feel "just right" -- definitely not super short, like a dc-sports SS in a Honda or anything. If you want a really short-shift, I'd go for the concept-1 part. But then again, I think a 40% reduction would be super hard on your synchro's...

Re: Anyone have the Autotech SS? (vertigobora)

I have one. I had the Neuspeed one, so I can compare. The Autotech (a.k.a. Audi TT) shifter is smooth, like stock, but slightly shorter. I cut my shaft 2" before, so now it's just right.
Compared to the Neuspeed one, Neuspeed is much shorter, but much notchier. I don't think that's specific to Neuspeed, but a result of the shift mechanism we have.
Bottom line, I'm quite happy with the Autotech shifter (especially for the price) and have no regrets.
Re: Anyone have the Autotech SS? (JettaRed)

Does anyone have any experience with the C1VW one? I'm thinking that it'd be notchy, but I drove my friends car with a B&M not too long ago and it was smooth as could be.
