well tonight at the tracks i broke mines. i am thinking it broke when i lanched from the start, i had mad wheel hop. afterthe 1/4 mile i felt and heard a loud thoud. when i got back to the pit i noticed gear oil leaking. so i went under the car and checked for a leak, but i could not find it. i am thinking that i may have cracked the case or broke a seal. anyone have any ideas? also this will be covered by warranty right? (i was not racing i was watching...hehe)

i broke 2 of them its the diff. the diff comes apart and cracks a hole in the housing.the dealer will probably replace one trans but void you on the second one,this was my case.a quaife will solve this problem,it solved mine

i mean my car is till driveable.....so it is the diff that cracked the housing? i can still go through the gears and stuff.....but the gear oil leak is what is killing me......so you was saying that the dealer will only replace it once and then after that you are on your own? how long did they take to do it? tahnks for the help bro

will the quaife (or peloquin) replace completly the stock diff? or is it something like an upgrade? (so if the stock diff is messed up, will the new quaife solve everything?)
Does anybody know if there are aftermarker cv joints for our cars?

I haven't broken my VW yet but I split the ring gear on a Dodge Daytona Turbo at the drags once. This was when I realized that without a lot of work FWD cars did not make good drag cars. No disrespect to what guys are doing with FWD cars (some of you guys are running insane times with your everyday drivers) but I find that if you are abusive to a FWD car at the strip it will break something, usually sooner than later.
Please don't preach to me about drag racing. I'm an semi-old motorhead that's drag raced about everything, snowmobiles, street bikes, street cars, econo rails (two mid 8 sec. runs, what a blast!), go-carts, gee what else?

I would suggest you stop driving until you get it fixed....the case must have a small crack from a rivet or something else flying off the diff or ring gear......the tranny is going to quit if you keep driving it, so get it to the dealer ASAP. Wheelhop is the worst thing you can do to a VW tranny(besides doughnuts and burnouts)......Quaife is mandatory to reduce the chance of breakage at the drags....

tyroll- i have stopped driving since it happened on friday nite. i had it towed to my girlfriends house and it has been sitting there for the past two days. tomorow i will be going to the dealer. how much is the quaife?
