Really looking at buying one in the next 6-8 months.

Have friends that ride - they love them.

Expensive but worth it ? debatable - depends on who you ask.

Looking for some real world info from rzr, yxz, talon(and other) owners.

It is really cool to see kawasaki join the sport sxs field !

I'm debating on either getting a utv / sxs

Lets get a pic, build thread started much like the toyota, jeep threads have !
:laugh::D:beer::beer:

Here is a pic of a buddy in his rzr prepped for king of the hammers back in 2014 - pretty dang cool if you ask me !

over 100 views - not a single reply. Forums are indeed dead for stuff like this apparently...

I looked into them for a while but never had the opportunity to pull the trigger. Expensive, life, time, etc... I was eyeing up the Honda Pioneer 1000 just due to the fact I have a family and a 4 seater made sense. Here's what I gathered from my research.

How many seats do you want?

How fast do you want to go?

Where do you want to ride? The 600s will go places the 1000s won't due to width and trail requirements.

What do you want to do with it?

What transmission do you want? If its dual clutch, it think Honda is it. If its CVT then the rest.

Cost? There's a big difference between a Terx4 and a CanAm Turbo etc etc. Yamaha Wolverine looked like a nice option to me until I tried to sit in it.

Odd man out??.... Mahindra Roxor Its basically a 1940s CJ Jeep with some improvements. Diesel motor, manual transmission.

Once you narrow down a few of those questions there's probably only a few choices left.

Yes this forum is super slow.

Not entirely... I own an older Honda rancher and a Honda pioneer 500, in my town you can ride on any street plus we have hundreds of miles of trails, you can ride all year except for the month of April during the spring thaw, I have a cab on mine and use it for plowing in the winter, the 500’s are stout little machines and can be had for $7500/to $ 8000 upgrades are endless on these, I’d add a pic but seems I’m not able to? Maybe more posts needed?

MAHINDRA ROXOR looks like it would fun. Slow but fun i'm sure.

I'm leaning either with a honda talon or yamaha yxz for reliability sake.

Not to say the rzr xp is un reliable i just hear lots of issues with them from friends. Meh

The new pro xp looks amazing ! Not sure how it will hold up though over time/abuse.

Really excited to see how this sport grows in the next 5-10 yrs. Hopefully it doesn't forget the grassroots guys/gals that brought it into the limelight.

Also i'm interested to see what the segway hybrid UTV will be like. That instant torque should be very useful on the trails here in colorado at high altitude !

I have a Defender Max XMR. Good unit. It's primarily used for work, it's not the most fun on the trail because of the mud tires. Suspension is surprisingly good, have jumped the rig a few times and the landing was surprisingly decent. Traction is very strong, I can lock all diffs up manually. We have soft doors and a heater for the winter and that is absolutely awesome.

It's 64" wide and I've had to widen all the ATV trails to accomodate it on our property. Still working on that. I really wouldn't want anything wider.

I'm going to get a sound bar or other stereo for it in the fall. That's the one thing it's really missing right now.

I'm also thinking 4" portals and some 35" tires in the future but we'll see. Then a Talon for fun stuff. Miss having gears quite frankly . . .

Yeah it's interesting but I'm concerned about build quality. Time will tell.

sounds cool ! any pics ?

i'm pretty excited for the new x3 with smartshox but man they are sure getting pricey !

Also the talon is supposed to have a subpar suspension...not sure what kind of riding you are planning to do but i've almost completely dismissed the talon due to it's suspension design.

same with the yamaha yxz...not fun on the rocky/bumpy trails we have here in colorado

Hey all. Just grabbed a mint low km 2016 Polaris Ace 325 to replace my recently sold 2000 Sportsman 500. Quickly fitted it with a few accessories to assist in ensuring i am well taken care of on my long solo rides. This will be my primary adventure rig for my Canadian back-country hunting, exploring, fishing and trail riding. Should be fun!

I just picked up a new machine Monday, there are loads of parts on order and I may throw up a build post in this thread.

it’s a 2021 Can Am Maverick X3 DS Turbo R which is the 64” wide 172hp model.

it’s getting a roof, windshield, soft upper door and rear panel, winch, lights, heater, stereo, rock rails, skid plates and belt temp gauge to start.
