Anyone know a lot about Roush Mustangs?

I was at my dealer the other day and they have a black 'vert for sale. Looked pretty sweet. I didn't bother to ask how much it was, though. I was surprised to see it out front, esp since it was the VW dealer property and not their Ford dealer from down the road.

I love how you can buy a supercharged mustang from them with less power than the factory, and for more money!

I like Mustangs enough, esp on the track, but I believe the Roush cars are over-hyped. You can buy a Mustang GT and put a supercharger and exhaust on it and get well over 400 HP. Then you can add some agressive suspension and lightweight wheels and sticky tires and pretty much have a car physically the equal of the Roushs. Then you can add your choice of funky spoiler. Then you can go to the big Mustang race and show outside Colombus, OH and park in the grass while everyone else is racing and talk about how you could easily be running 10s if you wanted to race that day but the reason that you aren't racing is you just detailed the car and don't want to get nastiness behind your rear wheels.

They're nice enough if you just want to buy a package. Or if you really like the looks of them. I'd much rather have a stock looking Mustang that could eat fancified Mustangs for breakfast! But maybe that's just me.

Or just buy the SVT Cobra, and have the same thing!

Roush made sense before the SVT, but now its too pricey. Before it filled a void for really fast Mustangs that you could buy from the showroom.

the roush/saleen mustangs have become a little dated since the introduction of the supercharged cobra in '03. However, it's not exactly the same as just putting a blower and suspension on a GT. for one, any of those mods would void your warranty on the stock GT as opposed to the roush. secondly, you have the exclusivity of a limited production car. also, the superchargers on those cars are different. the blower on my car is a centrifugal type, which doesn't make much of a difference below 3k rpm, but screams at the top end. on the roush/saleens, they use either a twin screw or roots-type blower which is great for the street since they produce their boost in the low rpm range. having said that, for about the same price or less you can get a cobra mustang which has an independent rear and a 6speed. personally, i wouldn't buy a saleen or roush, but i still think they're cool, fast cars.
