Anyone know good BMW E36 forum(s)?

982 Views 19 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  84Rocco2bturbo
Hey- Some of you guys might remember me, I sold my C about a month and a half ago for 11g's. Anyways I ended up getting a 93 BMW 325is as its replacement - and I just love the car - but there are no good forums I can find. Can anyone help me out and give me a forum of similar calibre to what vortex is to VW? Thanks again

the main reason - reliabilty.
the 2nd reason - it's a BMW, I mean give me a break, it's almost as fast as my C which I put about $3000 into the engine, handling is better as the limits are far more than my old C, and the sound of that 6 cylinder - WOW...also a bit more refined...but my C w/230,000kms interior was by FAR better quality than my BMW w/125,000k...yeah

If you need to ask someone why they sold a Corrado for a BMW, then you probably have never driven one. My brother ha a 99 M3 and it is just another world. When they say "the ultimate driving machine" they are not bragging, just stating the facts. Those cars do exactly what you tell them to without any back talk. Very unlike our beloved Corrados. My next car will be a M roadster and I might miss my money hungry PITA C once in a while, but not that bad.

BMW seem to be the trend in my town and other places i know. I have friends selling there b-series, turbo accords, for BMW's. kinda of zany-dale
Re: Anyone know good BMW E36 forum(s)? (booya_45)

bmw's are pimp. We smacked down a 98 m3 in our "Steptronic" lol 2002 330ci in a deathmatch through the city. Got thumbs up from the owner as neither could pull or outhandle each other. They are pretty pimp too, and pretty f'ing expensive.
but thats what a bumper to bumper is for. Thats the best part of the bimmer

I've driven both my friend's 318 and 325. Even if the 318 was more budget oriented, its incredibly solid, runs flawlessly with 130K miles, and the interior is great quality. The 325 is the same and more. And even though the 318 isn't super fast, its still a kick to drive. If I had the money, I would get a BMW in a second. But probably as a second car.

Try Pelican Parts, they got a decent forum although it is not as good as the Vortex. Not as many members and it takes a while to get any answers or help.

This site is oretty helpful. They have a bulletin board that is pretty good.
If you find any others let me know.

have fun with your bmw, i have an E21 3.2l p&p head, lightened balanced crank, t04 turbo
only thing it doesn't have is an intercooler, grrrr no room in a 320i engine bay for an intercooler.

My brother sold his 93 slc corrado for a 1995 m3. And he said it was his biggest mistake. So he has done this first hand and he says once he pays off his m3 hes going right back to a corrado. So bmws are cool but corrados are way more original and i guess to my brother he thinks there alot more funner. You also have to think about the money factor. Blow a head gasket in a corrado- $200 tops, then blow a head gasket in an m3 and your damn broke. lol. Yeah he loves his m3 but wishes he still had his corrado.

if you're used to paying Corrado prices for parts, E36 (m3 or not since the US m3 is just a bored out 328 block) it's not much different. Plus i've found way more shops that specialize in BMW repair then do VW only around here, helps keep costs down... now try owning a car that they imported less then 5000 of.. E30 M3 parts scream rape me

Re: Anyone know good BMW E36 forum(s)? (GTI Lowen)

I don't know, I love them both. I have a 325i and a G60 Corrado and they are both great in their own way. If you have the right sources, parts for the BMW are not that bad. Besides there isn't much that braeks on them as long as you give it some preventative maintenance.
There is a few things that you can't do your self because of the special tools neede. That can be frustrating. Like replacing a noisy $14 lifter. You need a special fixture to remove the cams other wise you run the risk of braeking it (they are hollow). That turns out to be a $1000 job (while you are in there may as well change all the lifters).
Anyway, you can't really compare BMW to Corrados, they are completely different, one beying a front wheel drive and the other beying a rear wheel drive. IMHO they are both fun in their own way.
