planning on locking somebody in the trunk?
Re: anyone know where the trunk escape handle is? (nycamc)

The escape handle was delayed to being a mid-year change. I don't think any of the Jettas have it yet. So don't worry if you can't find it, because you don't have one.

Delayed introduction? Darn it, I thought it started in the 2001 models? It was listed on the VW website, and I believe they're still posting 2001's specs (1.8T still has 150 hp).

Ah, I see you've discovered one of Volkswagen's quirks.

their website also says that beetles have HID as an option

Mine is on the inside of the hood itself on the left-hand side. It glows in the dark, too!
Scoop.

Well, that'll depend on what size those people are...

got one on mine...2002 jetta gls.
just got it last week. It's a fluorescent green handle on the inside of the trunk hatch. I laughed when i saw it but...you never know when it might come in handy!

You can fit a whole lot more if you dismember them first

I just bought my 2002 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T a few weeks ago, and it came w/ the truck escape handle. It's on the left side of the interior of the trunk -- it's yellow, and quite discreet. A nice feature if you happen to get car-jacked or something...

dealers don't like me referring to the storage area as a "3 corpse trunk" around customers..

Sorry didn't mean to bring this so far off topic. I didn't know the answer and just thought the question was funny.
From what I've heard is that it's a PIA to do but it has been done by somebody.
