There are a lot of brand new MkV's on this forum, anybody going to go with steelies this winter instead of aluminum rims?

Nope. The B5 passat is going to get the ol' Audi 16"ers and i'll be shodding the MKV with the stock 16"s as well.

USing my factory GLI rims as winter wheels, then I'll buy 19s or 20s in the spring.

I'm running with the factory 16" alloys all year long. I keep them waxed real good, and clean them often.

No joke...those are my winter wheels.
We don't get a lot of snow in the valley...maybe 3 days a year. In the mountains we get a bunch, but I don't frequent them. If it does snow in the valley, the whole place shuts down. Besides, I'll just take a cab to work if it gets that bad.
I'm more worried about the gravel and runoff we get on the roads from the rain.

I see plenty of snow in the winter, so I'll be running my stock 16"s.
I'm planning on picking up some Huff's for the summer when the timing is appropriate.
That is, assuming I get my car deliver'd to me in the designated time I was told.... *crosses fingers*

I'm confused. I thought the GTI came with 17's stock.

I'll definitely be running 16" steelies in the winter. They're a must have up here on the Atlantic Canadian Coast. The dealership claims they'll be bringing in deals with tires + steelies come November.

on VW.ca it says 16"
and I'm pretty sure my salesman said 16" as well too.
it might come stock 17's in the USA, I wouldn't know about that, I'm buying in Canada.

Nah, just checked. VW.ca says 17" standard. The spare is 16".
