Yeah, I wanna see this too. It would look really nice if you took the center piece off and powdercoated it black, and put it back together afterwards. (2-piece BBS wheels can be dissassembled). Black rims with a machined lip look sweet!
Re: Anyone powder coat or paint there BBW Wolfsburg Wheels black??????? (Deception)

I have seen the wolf wheels with the center mash powdercoated anthracite and the lip left polished looked super bad on red Golf, I had to ask what kind of wheels they were, didn't even recognize them!

I know a little late, but my RXII's on my wolfie are black with a polished lip. I don't have a computer at home though so I can upload the picts.
I might be able to have my buddy do it on his computer, so I'll try to post em.

Those look great on that Mk2 !
Here's my BBS one piece rims in black. Not the Wolfsburg style, but here it is anyway:

If anyone needs powdercoating done, let me know.

How would you powdercoat them?
Can you disassemble the lip and the spokes?
Is that hard to do and then put back together with the same integrity(strength)?
Thanks.

good question about taking them apart, bump on that!
Re: Anyone powder coat or paint there BBW Wolfsburg Wheels black??????? (nolimitsoldier)

If the wheels are capable of being separated, then that would be great for the powdercoating process. It is not necessary though. There is heat resistant tape that is used specifically for masking off certain areas, that you would not want powdercoated.

So the question is - Do the BBS Wolfsburg rims come apart?
I don't even want to think about the cost of powder coating if you have to pay somebody to tape off every single "rivet" hole on each rim times four. Forget about it..... big money!

You can take the wheels apart, you just need to get the torque specs to put them back together. Here are mine:

Thanks Grinch! Very nice wheels. If you don't mind me asking.....
Are they painted or powder coated? And is that black or dark grey?
Did you disassemble or leave them to together to do that?
And what did it cost?
Thanks again for the pics and info.

Re: Anyone powder coat or paint there BBW Wolfsburg Wheels black??????? (Marty)

details details, that looks sweet, bet it would look real nice on my black wolfie.
Re: Anyone powder coat or paint there BBW Wolfsburg Wheels black??????? (symplex17)

They are powdercoated black, not painted, and yes they were taken apart first. They were actually on my buddies car prior to mine, so he did the work. If I remember correctly, they cost approximately 125-150 to have it done. I will talk to him to see if he remembers the torque specs, or if you have any other questions you can IM him...VoolVR6
