Ooooooooooooh I am starting to get really pissed.
I have a fresh 1.8 in my GTI with Audi 5000 turbo pistons and rods so it will handle boost.
I got to drive the car for about two months until I blew out exhaust manifold gaskets and the car has been sitting for over 2 years because of the 8V headpackaging requires me to remove the head to just service the friggin turbo.
At any rate, I decided to put a crossflow head on my 1.8 so I bought 2 crossflow heads from a friend with intakes, to find out the damn original acessories dont fit, but I kinda expected that.
I then started pricing ABA brackets and accesories and kept finding the prices to be close to what a damn ABA should cost almost complete. So I found a 95 Jetta in the wrecking yard and just decided to buy the whole damn thing, and sell off what I dont need.
Well, I strip off all the crap from the ABA and cant get the goddamn AC compressor to clear the radiator

I am so close to losing it.. I dont want to swap in the entire ABA engine because I already have a 1.8 that I feel better about.
Has anyone managed to put the ABA head on a 1.8, while retaining AC in a A2? I figured the 1.8 and ABA had the same location as far as the hight of the accessories, but now Im not so sure and maybe the 1.8 has the stuff lower?
Even if you havent done it yourself and know someone who has, please get me their contact info.
Thans, Scott

I don't know. The damn radiator is so close right now I cant even get the A/C compressor in the car.
I tried bolting the compressor to the bracket and putting it in and it still wont go. I think if I take off the core support and remove the radiator I will be able to get the stuff on, but the outlet of the radiator will probably be within a gnats ass of the compressor. Im thinking by the time I account for the hose with a bend in it even if I let it rub a little I will end up moving the radiator forward 2".
I talked to Tom at 1800vwparts today and he said the acessories will sit lower on a 1.8. I dont know if hes right or not though, because he said you cant run AC with no powersteering but black gold has done it.
So I need to confirm the location of the holes. If the accesories will sit at the same height with the 1.8 as the 2.0, Im just not doing something right.
