On the airbags I’ve noticed a side effect of having them on my lifted full-size bronco is that when they are connected together for ease of filling evenly I found that they attributed to increase lean .when turning as that outside wheel tends to compress it will cause the inner airbag to extend and increase lean.i installed a valve to isolate them while driving.keep in mind this is a lifted vehicle with six inches of suspension lift and 35”tires so not a fair comparison except for only in theory.

I'm guessing even our stock sway bar will help compensate, let alone those with upgraded bars. But good point.

I have the 4175 Firestone kit in my 2017 Alltrack, set up with a single fill valve. The 4175 is longer than the 4176 and fills up the spring nicely.

I really like the increased firmness in the rear unloaded and just completed my first road trip with it loaded. Bike on a 1up hitch rack, 2 pair skis, 1 snowboard, luggage/gear for a week. Much better handling.

Install is rough. I had a mechanic buddy with strong hands squeeze them in. Have heard it is much easier if you remove the spring but I'm not equipped for that.

Sometime in the spring one of my bags got a tear. Went to air up for a trip to the Home Depot but only heard air escaping. According to Airlift's FAQ, a horizontal tear is a result of insufficient air pressure which I think is what happened as I wasn't really keeping any pressure in them. Lesson learned. So with 1 bag still in working order i decided to order another kit instead of a replacement bag since the cost was about the same.

Cutting out the old bag was slow and tedious but installation this time around was a breeze. Instead of working from underneath the car, I took the wheel off and worked them in from the side. When I deflated the bag I shaped it in a specific way and used a zip tie hold its shape. Sprayed some soapy water and had the bag in about 5 minutes.

So you didn't take the lower control arm off to install but went the deflated squeeze route?

So that bag only lasted about a year? I hope it was just due to low inflation rather than poor design flaw.

Correct, I did the deflated squeeze route. I found it so much easier this time that I take back my previous post about it being a major PITA.

I am willing to put money on that it was due to no inflation. The cut or tear was about 1” long & like a perfect incision. All of airlifts support material point to horizontal tears as a result of the airbag bottoming out due to insufficient inflation.

I didn’t notice the bags being negatively affected by road salt or cold temps. They appeared none the worse for wear.
4176s I think: helps some with saggy butt but still need longer stiffer springs if loading up, I think.

This cargo box on rear hitch was basically empty- some firewood, etc 70 lbs on max 250 tongue weight limit, on 2" Ecohitch, cheapo PepBoys cargo carrier.

I too want to install them, when you have a full load does your tail sink or stays even.
Where did you purchase them
I contacted eTrailer but not in stock until september.

Got em at Amazon $29 or something like that.

Still saggy.

Airbags dont add height, just reduces droop some. Its basically a taller inflatable bump stop.

For towing or hauling lots of weight inside/hitch cargo carrier, it does help at max inflation 30 psi.

see pics;

But they are known to rip, lines kink, valves break so for long distance confidence (thinking TransCanada to AK trip)

Ima need stiffer longer springs than stock to try in rear, then Atlas shocks, next I reckon. Testing one step at s time.

I just completed 2000km trip with the airlift helper bags carrying 2 bikes on the hitch & luggage in the trunk. The bags were inflated to 30 psi. There was maybe an inch of sag.

how are you guys routing the filling hose? any pictures or diagrams? any concern with the hose going into the subframe and movement with compression?

Ran mine with valve inflation end of bag up, thru hole at top of the spring cup,

Wiggled line out thru an opening on top inside of frame, then along muffler hirld (cold side) to rear bumper black inset valance, one each side and above hitch.

I'm wary of the spring extending enough to pull air line out the top.
Under notmal dpring load the bag fills the space inside spring, but I wonder where it ends up as that opens up- hanging by the airline or dropping down(?)

I've had a couple problems filling/letting air out not sure if a kink or bag out line leak...or a bad valve(s) so still experimenting...more in a couple weeks.

On a long trip part- bags deflated, 10, 20...taking notes on the ride. More in 30 days.

I routed mine out the bottom of the control arms (got the idea from a TDI thread on these), under some panels, T'd them together, then out the rear bumper where the hole for the Euro hitch is. Zip ties snug, but not constricting. Haven't had any issues in 3+ years and 45k + miles.
