Anyone know what I'm talking about. Potterman sells them on his site. A thin layer of soft plastic that covers your fog/headlights/turns..... a rock busted my foglight yesterday ( well just a crack ) but I don't want to have to replace them again. I'm gonna get the smoked fogs from the Pman, but should I bother with the impact savers?? Do they really work?? I've heard that they can cause cracks in the glass cuz they get too hot?? Any input would be great!!!
Thanks

Re: Anyone use the Fog Light Impact Saver dealies thingamabobs (phat-black-dub)

I had them on my old Ford Ranger sport truck back in the day, worked awesome, my friend even smacked them with a hammer as a drunken joke, no break, although a hard hit would have cracked them. Not sure on the Dub, haven't gotten around to it yet. I would like to know too, although i am getting MK IV look lights and I have Votex Fogs.

I have heard people say they are not good since the lamps get so hot and I guess it reduces heat disapation, possibly leading to more cracks. This goes fror Hella dual rouns as well, but I might try them on my duals since the HID's are only 35 watt and the lense now is not hot to the touch....

I have the "xpel" light cover kit. I've had it for about a year now. Works great! Came with clear stick on plastic for the headlights, fogs, blinker and blank. I put them all on except the fog light ones. I've heard the same thing regarding the foglights; the excess heat can build up anc cause cracking. I think the kit was $30 or $40. Really cheap insurance if you ask me.

I have them on my fogs, dual rounds and the grille lights. As for the heat dissipation, the thermal coefficient of plastic is such that it will dissipate just as well. If your are going to get the Impact savers, I would suggest getting the sheet that Potterman sells and then cutting out what you need. It will be cheaper this way especially if you are gonna do your headlights too. I had some extra when I did mine so my buds got free savers. I have had no problems with mine what so ever.

My Votex duals came with the protection film when I bought them, seems to work great. When the lights have been on for a while, the film gets soft, but seems to dissipate heat pretty well
No cracks so far though, and it looks like they've been on since the lights were new. The actual lenses are glass e-code Cibie, if that makes a difference
