I've read about a lot of people on here that have the VAG COM software from Ross-Tech. I'm wondering if anyone has used OBD Tool?
http://www.obdtool.com/
It seems like you get the VAG COM interface and the shareware version of the Ross-Tech software for $70 (vs $200 for full VAG COM from Ross). For basic diagnostic (reading CELs - got my first last night) and clearing codes it seems like a good deal.
So has anyone used either OBD Tool or the shareware version of the Ross Tech software?

Re: Anyone used OBD Tool??? Similar to VAG COM (memnuts)

Without the registered version of the software you can't clear DTC's and it won't tell you the full information in the measuring blocks and what the DTC's mean.
Spend the extra money and buy the software and a OBD adapter from Uwe Ross and be done with it.

Cool thanks for the input. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
You just saved me from my occasional cheapass tendancies (the kind that wind up costing more in the end anyway).

Well, not quite... the unregistered version still clears the DTC's. Believe me, I know (I'm too lazy to register it so far). But registering it is still worth it for the extra features. Also, with the shareware version, VAG-COM won't show a description for many (but not all) of the DTC's. It gives you the number, but not the description - unless you register.
