Re: Anyone want a Skyline GT-R? (D. Olsen)

I'll take the blue one...and the black one. Might as well take the white one too, while I'm at it.

The blue one rocks....now to come up with $70K. I wonder if they take your first born as payment.
Re: Anyone want a Skyline GT-R? (speedracer3)

Doesn't say anything about the cars being U.S. legal. Motorex's cars are D.O.T. approved. I wonder how you'd go about federalizing these...

Sounds like he will do it for you, but being RHD, i dont' see how it's going to be street legal... Show and Display only?
Re: Anyone want a Skyline GT-R? (Fusion)

RHD and center driven cars are both legal in the US. The legality had to do with emissions and safety.
Re: Anyone want a Skyline GT-R? (Kierf - ¿§?)

well the minute those things hit a bumpy road, they'll rack up lower body damage quickly.

Those pics are certainly NOT in this counrty. Looks like those cars are sitting in Japan to me. If so, I doubt they've been federalized so tack on another $25K to have MotoRex do that bit for you.
There is no language in the ad that claims these cars are street legal or able to be reistered <edit> Before you all jump at me, the ad says that the car will be "legalized" not registered. There is a huge difference. I can legalize an Evo V tomorrow as a race car, but not as a street car.</edit>
The English text was clearly written by someone who has only a basic understanding of our language (or someone from the Mk4 Forum
) - I'm suspicious about this.

Yes there is, actually:
quote:

Upon US Customs, and DOT hold (Madatory 30 days) car will be legalized in 2 weeks.

But I'm still suspicious. The same cars can be had for the same cost from Motorex, and they're established, and 100% legal. I've been told that these photos are taken at the dealership where Motorex buys their cars.
It's no small feat to legalize these cars. There's a lot of paperwork and a lot of modification required.

Re: Anyone want a Skyline GT-R? (AKADriver)

Go back and read the edit to my post (guess I didn't get there fast enough).

What is said is not legally operative. If I'm going to plop down $90K, I want an assurance that this car will be street legal. What they offer is simply that the car will arrive in the country legally. There's a BIG difference.
By accepting those terms, you accept only that the car will arrive here and be released by customs. There is no assurance about what you can do with the car after that.
This is why I get paid to write contracts.

Those things are BAD ARSE, I want one too. I saw a black one w/ RHD in San Francisco, that thing was humming when it passed me. I thought my 38" tires on my Excursion was humming too loud, but when I looked down, there it was, a Skyline GT-R R34. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

So they're gonna screw you by leaving you holding the ball on a car they got here legally, yet you cant drive it? http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Re: Anyone want a Skyline GT-R? (euro-mk1)

Euro Mk1-
Is that Excursion White?>
I met that guy from Malibu who does the Left-Hand drive conversions, he had one of these puppies up here in the Bay Area. Pretty slick.
I think the certification testing was already done for you right? (Motorex)
All you have to do is change out the parts that don't meet DOT regs/
Hey if worst came to worst, you could run it under the show and go rules.
Seems to work for a couple of TVR drivers in this country. Hell they don't even need plates, then again they are super easy to identify so it's all good.

Yep, mine is a White Excursion, w/ ALCOA Wheels.
Did you happen to see that black Skyline as well? That thing was wicked, but when I saw it, it was a RHD.
