Someone jump in and correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think any GTi came with black interiors. There were some grey one with red "GTi" stitching and there were some with black vinyal bolsters and red and grey striped middles. Of course there were the Recaros, but they were all grey.

Find a GTI with black leather. Some '86-'87 models had it

I don't think I have ever seen the black leather option in a GTi. Must be pretty rare.

you can put the back seat from a jetta there. My set of recaros used to be in my friends wife's 86 golf and the back seat can be jammed in there with minimal difficulty. It is secure, and doesn't damage the seat. just hook the thin vertical rods at the ends of the backrest around the posts that the regular folding seats snap onto.

You can buy the material from Recaro that matches the seats and have them reupholstered, that's what I'm planning on doing.
