I have a 99.5 VW Jetta 2.0, and I am right around the corner from 40,000. I have called the dealership and found out that the turn up consists of new spark plugs, wires, and a cap/roater. Replacing the fuel filter, etc., etc.
I am just wondering if anyone suggests going with performance wires? If so what kind and where can I get them? Will this make that much of a difference.
Also, what else should I have done (I am not going to have the VW dealership work on my car, but a reputable mechanice know for his work on German cars). Is there anything else that I should have done? The breaks flushed? I have a K&N drop in, and I will clean that myself.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Approaching 40,000 miles, any tune up suggestions? Spark Plugs and Wires?!? (VWGreenJetta)

oem Bosch is a good bet, wires too, no need for high priced plug wires.
Certainly flush the brake fluid - I recall VW specs every two years.
With a few simple hand tools you can do the work yourself. Perhaps you have a knowledgable buddy that could help?
Good luck,
