Re: APR exhaust is it worth the cash?? (Dub_PRIME)

I talked to Jonathon at APR (sales rep) and he told me on his wifes jetta she laid down 196whp with APR exhaust (tb back) and 93 oct chip. Also with the 100 oct chip the car put 210 to the wheels!!! This is going to be the exhaust i get. At first i did not want 2.5 exhaust, but the Quality of APR is ssssoooooooo GGOOOOOODDDD!!! You might see like 5 more ponies with Force Motion, but the head aches you get with it just does not seem worth it to me.

Re: APR exhaust is it worth the cash?? (Boosted A4)

I'm really interested in knowing what kind of gains on a stock 2000 GTI, no mods, I plan on getting the APR 93 Oct chip because im like an hour and a half from them but i wanted to know what to expect from the exhaust alone if i were to add that mod alone.

quote:

Dub... The exhaust alone will add about 15 HP, and if you choose to run the DP/cat you can get about 10 to 12 more. Hope this helps.

Even though APR's site says 349.00 (in one sentence) the dp is 399.00, and that includes a Highflow cat. To me that is a good price. When FM is 500 and CG is 450.00. Mate APR's dp with TT exhaust and u have yourself 800.00 for a full exhaust. I was sold on FM until i found out i have to weld it to my brand new car, and also get motor mounts that will make my car feel like SHlT at ideal.

You won't need motor mounts for the FM dp - that's one of their selling points.

Exactly. I plan on getting the APR DP/cat and mate it to a 2.5" Milltek cat-back. Basically I don't want the hidden tips that the APR has. The Milltek is designed to fit the 4-mo valence perfectly and that is a HUGE plus in my book. I'll save a few bones in the process too.

we must think alike. I was thinking of doing the same thing!

Yeah I'm sure the APR and Milltek catback have VERY similar build quality and performance. It just seems like a great alternative to the APR TB. Kudos to Milltek for the tip options. APR, take a lesson on this and offer up some 4-Mo tips!!

Where did you hear all this? I didn't weld my Fm to my car...in fact I don't even know how I COULD do that, or why you would want to. You don't need motormounts either.
The stock hangers work fine, in fact the FM system is half the weight of the stock system so the hangers will last longer.
I think the APR exhaust looks great. I got my FM before APR released their's. Also, I don't really care how shiny and smooth it is. It sits UNDER my car where nobody can see it and it gets covered in road crap anyway.
