Anybody here use Arco gas? I've been filling up there since their premium is the same price as everybody else's mid-grade. Wondering why they're so cheap and if there is anything wrong with their gas.
My buddy has a 16-year-old Toyota V6. With Arco 87 he gets engine-knock/pinging, but with everybody else's 87, his car runs smooth. I heard the knocks in his car and they were pretty bad when the engine was straining uphill.
Any thoughts?

Re: ARCO gasoline problems? [Seattle area] (superphat)

My A2 has maybe only once had Arco gas. Yeah, they have a bad rap as far as clean gas goes....

Oh yeah, the last time I was at Arco, the Nozzle didnt shut off, and gas was all over the place! I was covered, so was my rear quarterpanel, tire, etc. I shut it off as soon as possible, but those pumps have some major pressure behind them, so it took all of a split second to drench everything.
Needless to say, that was the last time at Arco....
(kinda like biting the hands that feeds you...nevermind.

the chevron by my house sells 92 octane at about 1.30ish, thats a good deal http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

the problem with arco is the same problem EVERY gas station had this time of year. Oxygenated Gasoline or Ethanol. There is alcohol in the gas. OK every once in a while, but not good in the long run. Besides performance issues, fuel systems have been corroded and eated away by ethanol...

My experience was several years ago. I was driving a 77 Toyota pickup and was using arco gas. It ran like hell, but I thought it was just the rig. I filled it up one time with Texaco, and it was like a completely different engine...more power etc. Not sure if the gas was really the reason, but I have yet to put it in my car again.

You can find Cheveron gas for cheaper than Arco. I Puyallup the Cheveron is 1.23 right now which is cheaper than the Arco next door. I had problems with my old Chevy pickup with Arco gas and I would never go there again. (You get what you pay for)

I'm a big fan of cheveron, many because when I park my car in my drive, sometimes I hear it talking to my sister's car. It will sometimes pop open the hood to show how clean the engine is. hehee my car's a player

i think as much as good gas.. there is also good gas stations.. if i was driving and running outta gas.. and there was a beat down 60's chevron or a new arco.. i would go with arco.. it not just the gas.. it what the stored in... and some other notable gas stations.. actually get the pure bleed.. from arco ships...

I never get gas from Arco, Astro, BP, or any ******-tonk stations.
I limit my gas buying to supreme Texaco or Chevron. I will pick Texaco first, because their gas is always good. I've gotten a few skunky tanks from Chevron.

The worst gas I ever got was chevron, realy funked up my fuel distributer. fuelin anywhere can be a gamble. They say
figure out when the trucks refill, and dont go there till all the sediments settle down,at least four hours later.Or get a
farm card and buy race fuel. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Ill just say this. My friends dad's 00 Civic Si had to be in the shop for ruined injectors because the Arco gas corroded them and clogged them or something. The dealer told him from now on to use only gas with an additive such as techron to keep them clean and runnign good.

yeah my ex ran arco in her civic. The mechanic yelled at her when she brought it in for fouled fuel injectors. I run arco when I'm digging through pants for gas money. But if I've got the cash I'd rather run chev/tex 87+
